Passive defense can be applied in two areas:
Physical - hardware measures such as camouflage and concealment for critical assets and areas.
Soft system- management measures such as correct and precise diagnosis of vulnerable areas and timely decision making. The second type of measures is responsible for decision making, support and assistance for the first type of measures in the field of strategic management.
PDMS is mostly applied in the field of second type measures.
An introduction to PDMS:
To help implementing the principles of passive defense, an integrated system is designed regarding various access levels that it provides management of this sensitive area via using updated technology and decision making software tools on a map format.
This system helps managers in two important time histories:
Before crisis:
- Ability to make preventive decisions related to project's suitable site options, considering the involved parameters and other blinding measures for enemy's information systems
During the crisis:
- Possibility of doing defensive measures
- Possibility of remote monitoring and controlling on deferent parts of the project
- Possibility of making decisions
